Fruits de Mer is a local institution with a dedicated customer base that appreciates how special the shop is.

The owner runs the shop alongside his other business, which is a fleet of trawlers. The fish are caught off Broadstairs and brought to the shop in sometimes less than an hour from the sea.The freshness can be seen in that the fish are silky, and gleaming, and vivid compared to what you usually see.

The display also reflects what is in the sea rather than what you would expect and consequently you can find some weird and wonderfull creatures of the deep. Rather than labelling the fish the owner prefers his customers to ask what the fish are.
